Beyond classical music, Deberly has broad experience in both performing and teaching alternative genres. She has studied and performed jazz, folk, bluegrass, pop, and classic rock, in settings ranging from weddings to bars to barns to concert venues.

Deberly has performance experience on violin, viola, electric violin, electric 5-string violin/viola, and hardanger fiddle (a Norwegian eight-stringed instrument).

Past teachers include John Blake, Jr. on jazz violin, and Dan Trueman on fiddle tunes and hardanger.
